Hurray, I finally won something after so loooong! I can't even remember when was the last time I won something. That's how little "lady luck" shines on me. Well, it's nothing big, just a pair of tickets to the animation, "Surf's Up", but still, I'm happy! Won it thru a SMS contest, I suppose I only have luck for a mass contest...kekekeke...The only catch is, it's a 10am show on a Sunday morning at AMK Hub! I could hardly wake up! Ok ok, so what's 1 day of waking up early when I get to wake up late everyday! haha...
It got me wondering how other people can be so lucky to strike Toto, the words "Strike Toto" seem so super distant to me! I suppose I shouldn't complain, not that I buy toto or 4D often, it's the thought of wasting the $ should I not strike but then again, striking 1x will cover my losses, oh man, it's a vicious cycle I tell you! Maybe I didn't win as many times also coz I don't take part in enough contests to win, ok, I should shut up then. But there are people out that who take part in EVERY SINGLE contest and the disgusting thing is some of them are damn lucky to win big $! I've met a few (from my previous work) and they always turn up for every event in town! Best or worse thing is, they seem to know each other and I believe they belong to some kinda group. Eeeeks!
Nuff complaining, back to "Surf's Up", it's quite a heartwarming funny show revolving around penguins (mainly), a bird, an otter and a chicken in a surf championship! The film's done in documentary style aka interviews with the different characters & behind the scenes of the competitive and dangerous display of surfing in the Penguin World Surfing Championship. The film traces the aspirations of the lead penguin, Cody Maverick and his inspiration, Big Z, the ex champion surfer who disappeared after a surf competition. Add some love and a loyal friend and you have a typical, heartwarming film.
Review: The story line's abit thin, typical and predictable but it does provide a few laughs and do look out for the cute little penguins, they're so adorable! I personally feel it's not worth the $ to watch over the weekends, watch it during the days when the tickets are cheaper or you can afford to wait for it to be released on VCD/DVD. Oh, and do remember to stay until the end of the credits coz there are some more scenes.
